Collaboration group

Today I found a group of people to collaborate with. We have a group of four people made up of 2 illustrators, one animator and a graphic designer. We are going to work on the D&AD BBC brief. The brief is based around the Edinburgh Festivals. The idea is to use technology to share the experience of the many festivals with a wider audience. The idea is that we will make an app that can stream videos of the events to people who are unable to attend or who are trying to decide which of the many venues to visit. We could also make a message board that allows app users to post images or text sharing information about each of the events. The group seems to have a good balance with clearly defined boundaries between each persons role in completing the brief. As we are from differing disciplines and we will be relying on each others work to complete our own communication will be crucial. As an illustrator I will be creating the images which will be the first part of the process, I will need to manage my time and make sure I am in constant contact with the other members of the group to get feedback and make changes based on group decisions. I will need to make images that are compatible with the format of the app, I am used to working with illustrator so that should help. I will be working closely with Chris who is the other illustrator in the group as we will both be working on the same part of the process. We will need to be careful not to step on each others toes or make decisions that effect the other person without checking with the group first. I am going to start this brief by researching each of the festivals. I want to find out how they are advertised, what happens at the events, who their target audience is and any previous work that has been made based on them. I want to make the artwork vary from tab to tab on the app to represent the identities of each individual event but some connection between them in style, colour or layout that maintains the BBC brand identity. We are going to meet up next Wednesday to discuss ideas and how to proceed, we are all going to conduct research over the next week that we can feedback to the group on Wednesday. I have only worked with illustrators up until this point so it will be interesting to see how we all approach the brief from our individual disciplines.
